Grinding, Squeaking or Squealing Noises

If you hear any grinding, squeaking or squealing noises it is likely that there is a problem. Grinding noises could be a few different things such as gravel in the calliper unit which is a quick fix. Yet, it could be a much bigger problem. You may hear grinding noises when the brake pads have worn through. Because of this, you are now hearing metal on metal. High pitched squealing noises often is the brake pad wear indicator. They’re designed to make this noise. They let you know that your pads need replacing before any damage is made to the discs.

Brake Light on the Dashboard

Around 75% of vehicles will have a red or yellow brake indicator that will light on the dashboard. It will light up when you are due to a brake inspection. Some vehicles will also be able to alert when there is a problem that needs checking. But, this light will also show when the handbrake is not fully released so make sure that isn’t the issue first of all.

When there are worn seals, split hoses in the system or loose connections it can cause air or fluid to leak out your inner wheels. Brake fluid tends to be a clear liquid and will have a slight smell to it. If you do notice any fluid then get your brakes checked right away as it can affect your ability to brake.
