How to Pick the Right Tyres For Your Car!
Tyre Size
Before doing anything, you will need to know what size tyre you need for your vehicle. You can find this on the sidewall of every tyre. It will be a series of numbers such as 205/55/16. The first number is the tyre width, so for example 205. Next is the tyre profile, so 55 for example. Lastly is the wheel diameter, so for example 16. You will need to make note of your tyre size as this is the first thing you will be asked whilst looking for tyres.Types of Tyres
When getting tyres, you will need to decide on what type of tyres you want. There are both Budget, Mid-Range and Economy tyres that you will be able to pick from. As the names suggest the tyres have different qualities. The budget being the cheaper tyres, that will only tend to last for 7,000 to 8,000 miles. Where premium generally lasts for 15,000 to 20,000.Budget
With a budget, you tend to get what you pay for. As they are a lower cost they will need to be replaced more frequently. They are great in the short term as they are such a low cost, but, they have much less research and investment. Some budget tyres are much better than others, so it is always worth researching to find the best budget tyre for you.Mid-Range
Mid-Range tyres are often made by the premium tyre manufacturers. But, they may not be as good quality as premium. But this doesn’t mean that they’ll a be bad tyre. They will still have low fuel consumption. Also, they allow customers to still have a good well-researched tyre at a cheaper cost. They are definitely a much better quality than budget brands.Premium
Premium tyres are always improving! They have the latest technology and are much more durability. They will cost more than budget or mid-range. However, they will last much longer and may save you money in the long run. Many also have a warranty on them so you can put confidence into the product. Initially, they may cost you more money, but, the quality is much better. They’re designed with the vehicle manufacturers to ensure the best fit.Tread Patterns
Asymmetrical Pattern
This is a mix of two different tread patterns, so it provides different benefits to the driver. They have benefits for both dry and wet conditions. This means that they are great all-around tyres for both winter and summer. When fitting the larger tread must always be on the outside so that it can work it’s best. Often they will have OUTSIDE on the side wall to ensure they’re fitted the right way.Multi-directional Pattern
This can also be known as symmetrical tyres as they are the same on both the inner and outer of the tyre. They can be fitted anyway, and not alter the performance. They tend to be cheaper as it is a simple tread design all over. These type of tyres tend to not perform the best when wet, but much better in dry conditions.Directional Pattern
These tyres have an arrowhead-like tread. They can be fitted on either side. However, they can only be rotated vertically (from front to back). This will ensure the tread pattern is in the correct direction to perform their very best. These tyres perform excellently in wet conditions, as well as in snow, meaning these are the perfect tyres for winter conditions.Tyres at Express Fit
