From May 2018 the MOT test will be changing. “Although modern cars are better built and safer than when the MOT test was last changed 50 years ago”. They will be introducing new failure ratings and will be closing the diesel loophole. This means that it will now make it much harder to pass the test, especially for any diesel vehicles. This is to crack down on diesel cars producing ‘dirty’ and toxic emissions.
New categories
Within these changes, there will also be three new categories. The ratings will be Dangerous, Minor and Major, it will show how dangerous a fault is. Any Major or Dangerous defects will fail the test. Minor faults still may pass the test, but they will be on the MOT certificate. Also, from May, if the exhaust on vehicles with diesel particulate filters is seen to admit any colour smoke the car will be issued a Major fault.
Overdue MOT
Any vehicles on the road without a valid MOT can get fined up to £1,000. The DVSA revealed that more than a quarter of drivers on the road cars are overdue. They also revealed that three-quarters of motorists that were late for their MOT have said they have forgotten the date of the MOT.

What a beautiful place. I know the sense in towns that are left derelict like that because you see little villages like that in Ireland all the time. It’s such a waste to see a decrease in life in places which were once so beautiful.
